KLCC, Kuala Lumpur

The iconic Petronas Twin Towers at Kuala Lumpur city centre are among the world’s tallest with 1,300,000ft2 of convention centre. Besides the massive shopping space housing a variety of foreign and local brands, there are also outdoor walkways, a 50-acre park oasis, a symphony lake, a kids’ playground and wading pool. There are daily fountain displays using over 150 programmed animations. Water and lights dance to the rhythm of the music. At the podium level between the twin towers lies an 8,650-seat concert hall with state-of-the-art facilities—and is home to the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra.

Dataran Helang, Langkawi

As cruise ships and ferries pull into Kuah Bay, Langkawi, visitors will be awed by the first sight of a huge bird statue at Dataran Helang. The 12-meter-high eagle, poised to take flight, stands above a concrete star shaped deck, which protrudes from the waterfront on Kuah Bay. Langkawi’s main ferry terminal and mall with duty free shopping are nearby. The old folklore has it that part of Langkawi’s name was formed from “helang” (eagle). The square is open to public.
